I’m Kenya, your Cricut expert, and I’ll be sharing some important steps in designing Cricut Christmas ornaments in this blog. Hence, if you’re a DIY enthusiast, stay tuned to this blog to learn about this beautiful ornament design with Cricut.
You can create such interesting stuff for this Christmas season and impress everyone. If you’re creating it to give someone, it’s a great thing to give to somebody. I’m fond of such lovely ornaments and items that increase the Christmas vibe.
Step 1: Select a Design
The first thing that I do to create a DIY project is to find a perfect design. I choose my design on many different platforms, but you, as a beginner, can rely on the Design Space Library, which provides a range of designs for almost any occasion. For you, I am taking an example of the Design Space.
I prefer images that I can edit and give them a touch of personalization. So, here I’m using a simple design saying Merry Christmas with the current year. What makes this design special is the ability to update the year with simple edits easily. However, you can show your full creativity here and try to attach something else to create unique Cricut Christmas ornaments.
Step 2: Cut Design With Your Cricut
In the next step of making Christmas ornaments with Cricut, you need to get ready with your cutting machine and cut the design. I like my Cricut Maker 3 to cut my Christmas design. This machine can cut Smart Vinyl as it doesn’t need a cutting mat. To start cutting the design with your machine, click the “Make It” option in the Design Space. Before that, you can do as much editing as you can, and then you’re good to go. Let your Maker 3 cut the design precisely.
Step 3: Weed Out the Design
After cutting the design with your Cricut Maker 3 machine, you can start weeding your design using your weeding tool. To get started, first, you need to trim the excess vinyl from the design and save it for more projects. Ensure that you stick the leftover vinyl pieces onto your cutting mat for use in future projects. To continue with your design, use a weeding tool and remove the vinyl from the center of the letters, such as “O,” “E,” and “A,” etc.
Step 4: Use Transfer Tape to Vinyl
In this step, you need to use a transfer tape to place your design on your ornament piece. Cut a piece of transfer tape slightly larger than your vinyl decal. Then, use a card or a scraper to burnish the vinyl design correctly on the transfer tape. S Burnish the design repeatedly until it adheres fully to the transfer tape. I also prefer to flip the design and scrape it from the backside to stick the vinyl design completely.
One pro tip that I want to share with you is that if you’re using the vinyl on a curved surface, cut out the unnecessary slits around your transfer tape, and this way, it will stay flat.
Step 5: Apply Transfer Tape to Your Ornament
To create the best Cricut Christmas ornaments, you need to apply the final transfer tape vinyl design to your ornaments. This is what I do once I am done with the design part. So, to fix this design on your ornament, you need to align the design in the center of your ornament. Be careful while adhering to the final thing. To fix the design in place, use your fingers and press down it using a scraper tool. Once you’re happy with the design’s placement on the ornament, take off your transfer tape to reveal the final look.
Step 6: Finalize Your Ornament
After transferring your design to the final ornament, you don’t have to stop. There are many ideas you can follow to make your design even more interesting. For instance, I like putting glitter in different shapes. You can also try this out or try something new. For example, you can put an old photo into your ornament. But I like putting colorful glitter on my project. Once done, your ornaments will be ready to adorn your Christmas tree.
Conclusion
I’m glad you read my full blog. I hope you liked my Cricut Christmas ornaments ideas. This is a quick project that you can create to decorate your Christmas tree this year or gift someone. To make it look fabulous, you can add anything of your choice to it. If you want, you can add candies, more glitter, and other things. I like creating such projects for Christmas and telling them about them to all of you. Give this project a try this Christmas and impress everyone with your creative skills.
